Rotation-invariant pattern matching using wavelet decomposition

چکیده
Pixel-by-pixel template matching is very time-consuming. For an input image of size N N × , and the template of size W W × , the computational complexity is O( 2 2 N W‧ ), given that the object orientations in both images are coincident. When we search an object with unknown orientation, the straightforward way to do template matching is to rotate the reference template in every possible orientation. It makes the matching scheme become impractical when arbitrary rotation of a search object is present.

General Stereo Image Matching Using Symmetric Complex Wavelets
General stereo image matching provides an adequate but hard problem with suucient complexity, with which the potential of wavelets may be exploited to a full extent. An ideal stereo image matching algorithm is supposed to be invariant to the scale, translation, rotation, and partial correspondence between two given stereo images. While the multiresolution of wavelets is good at scale adaptivity...
متن کاملLog-Polar Wavelet Energy Signatures for Rotation and Scale Invariant Texture Classification
Classification of texture images, especially those with different orientation and scale changes, is a challenging and important problem in image analysis and classification. This paper proposes an effective scheme for rotation and scale invariant texture classification using log-polar wavelet signatures. The rotation and scale invariant feature extraction for a given image involves applying a l...
متن کاملEfficient Algorithms for Invariant Discrete Wavelet Decomposition
Classical discrete wavelet packet transforms are sensitive to changes in image orientation and translation. Therefore, it is hardly possible to extract rotation invariant features from images in the transform domain. This paper proposes several algorithms for invariant discrete wavelet decomposition to produce an invariant representation for an image. The procedure can be divided into several s...
متن کاملShape Matching Using Wavelet Transform Modulus Maxima
Object contour matching has been prevalently used in pattern recognition and content-based indexing and retrieval of digital images. In this paper, the contour descriptors are extracted from a WTMM (Wavelet Transform Modulus Maxima) image, which is produced by a one level biorthogonal wavelet transform and contains curvature points of the contour. The most important WTMMs are further utilized t...
متن کاملWavelet and Co-occurrence Matrix based Rotation Invariant Features for Texture Image Retrieval using Fuzzy Logic
In this paper, research carried out to test the wavelet and co-occurrence matrix based features for rotation invariant texture image retrieval using fuzzy logic classifier. Energy and Standard Deviation features of DWT coefficients up to fifth level of decomposition and eight features are extracted from co-occurrence matrix of whole image and each sub-band of first level DWT decomposition. The ...
